With the cold weather approaching, now is the time to fill your home with warm and cosy colour palettes. Interior designer and styling expert, Rachael Collins from EZ Living Furniture has given her top trends for this Autumn as well as her favourite styling tips.
Browns and neutrals for cosy living rooms:
Warm, earthy colours such as brown are perfect for replacing cooler shades in your home this Autumn. To make the brown trend work in any home, start by integrating various shades to add depth and warmth. Combine both dark and light earthy tones to create a warm atmosphere. Integrate brown shades through furniture, rugs, cushions, and curtains. Prevent the space from feeling too dark by pairing brown with contrasting colours or materials, like white or metallics, to brighten the room and add visual interest. Adding plants and wooden furniture will also help give your room an earthy, cosy feel.
Vintage vibes:
The Autumn season tends to bring feelings of comfort and nostalgia, so adding vintage colours and patterns could greatly add to that feeling of comfort in your home. Vintage cushions or other vintage pieces can inject some vintage styling into your home without being too overwhelming or intimidating to style. A good idea could be adding a vintage brown leather sofa, not only bringing in a vintage vibe but also a cosy atmosphere.

A large sofa can be the staple of the room. From large U-shape sofas to those that wraparound corners, it seems mid-century furniture is getting the backseat as we make way for heightened levels of comfort in our homes. Laidback styling with natural materials and earthy colour palettes are perfect for those who still want modern-friendly vibes in their home. To add more fun and character to your home, other 70’s trends like curved furniture, abstract designs such as on prints, and touches of velvet can bring a fun, free-spirited 70’s vibe.
Quiet Luxery:
Quiet luxury refers to the quality of the materials we use in our homes to create spaces that are soft and elegant. It's not maximalist, but not minimalist either, but instead the careful and considerate styling of key items. Choose cushions and throws made from luxurious materials or with unique patterns and combine the different textures and designs. A good idea would be to pair velvet cushions with knitted throws or silk pillows with woollen throws to add visual interest.
