DAVID KITT, Damien Dempsey, and Erin McKeown are just three of the acts coming to Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, as its re-states its claim as a leading live music venue in the west of Ireland.
Things kick off on Saturday with accordion player Gary Quinn, who has been hailed by the great Máirtín O’Connor as a man who will “keep the spirit of joyful music alive”. As well as Irish trad, Quinn’s music draws on a number of influences including Cajun and Eastern European folk.
On Friday September 26, David Kitt, one of Ireland’s most consistently creative songwriters will play music from his impressive array of albums such as Small Moments, Square 1, and Not Fade Away.
In October, Hothouse Flowers vocalist Liam Ó Maonlai will take to the stage on Friday 10, followed by another of Ireland’s leading songwriters and modern day folk singers Damien Dempsey on Saturday 11. The young trad band Gradá return to play Campbell’s on Sunday 12. There will also be some workshops with the three above acts. For details on these contact Campbell’s.
The quirky and clever US songwriter and guitarist Erin McKeown makes a long overdue return to Galway on Sunday 26. Expect hummable tunes, some tasty guitar work, and plenty of fun.
