Galway’s Blas na Samhna food festival warms up November

Galway city and county are gearing up to celebrate food this season with Blas na Samhna (A Taste of Galway ), a month-long food festival. From cosy comfort foods to daring new dIshes, pop-up events, and chef collaborations, Blas na Samhna is the ultimate celebration of Galway's food culture, sustainability and local produce.

The festival will bring together the best of Galway's food scene, offering a mix of culinary events that highlight the essence of winter in the west of Ireland. Whether you are into ramen and bao, pasta workshops, or exploring the rich heritage of Brazilian and French cuisine, there is something for every palate. From intimate dinners to exciting food trails, guests can savour our innovative dishes, creative cocktail pairings, and exclusive wine selections throughout the festival.

What to expect at Blas na Samhna:

La Vissuta restaurant in Tuam is doing a special, seasonal pasta dish. Featuring roasted pumpkin, wild mushroom and truffle oil in a tomato sauce, this main course will hit the perfect note for the season.

Ramen & Bao Pop-Up: Join top chefs as they push the boundaries with an exciting menu of Japanese-inspired delights at Aniar.

Brazilian Feast: Celebrate Brazilian culture with Chef Laura Rosso’s Feijoada Weekend—a homage to traditional Brazilian cuisine, complete with music and flair.

SUD Pop-Up at Aniar: For lovers of Italian cuisine, join chefs Tony Carelli and Claudio Schiano di Cola for an unapologetically Italian experience that blends tradition and bold new ideas.

Flavours of Normandie at Amorica: Transport yourself to the French coast with Chef Nic’s memories of childhood holidays on the beach at Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandie, cockle picking and home cooking. Amorica's Signature Dish menu is a three-course menu, uniquely curated for this event only. There is only one sitting so book immediately.

Portugal’s Best at Trieste: Wine lovers can embark on a tasting journey through Portugal’s finest wines and ports, paired with the best of local cheese from Kylemore Farmhouse and Galway Cheese. Along with some Tawny, Rosé & White Ports served with cured meats and cheese. For the month of November all diners at Trieste will get a complimentary sample of Kylemore Farmhouse Cheese or Galway Cheese (Larry McGuire ) with all boards.

There is a cocktail competition that aims to shine a spotlight on the exceptional talent that is within local bars and mixology scene. This event not only celebrates the creativity of our bartenders, but also provides a platform to showcase the quality and versatility of Micil products. While the competition is trade-focused, consumers are invited to join on the night of the finals for food, drinks, and Galway’s best cocktails. All happening at Buddha Bar on Mary Street.

Indulge in a luxurious festive tea in Bar Solo at The Connacht Hotel, perfect for sharing with friends over bubbly and seasonal treats.

Wine and stories with Aoife Carrigy and Cathal McBride: An exclusive evening at Daróg with two of Ireland’s top wine writers sharing their favourite bottles and the stories behind them.

Pasta-making masterclass: Learn to make fresh pasta from scratch with Tony Carelli at Massimo’s Soul Garden, complete with a communal Italian-style feast.

At Cava Bodega they are marking the month with five tapas for price of four and will of course celebrate international sherry week from November 10.

Join McSwiggans Bar and Restaurant on November 24, where Irish oysters will meet carefully selected gin and whiskey pairings. Hosted by Head chef Kenneth Leydon and Bar manager Steven.

Stonewell Sabrage Dinner at The Twelve will showcase what Autumn has to offer with a selection of Irish and international wines as pairings. Fergal Guiney, head sommelier at The Twelve will sabre Corks Finest sparkling wine Esterre as an appropriately celebratory start to the evening’s proceedings.

At An Púcán there will be a Tradathon on November 10. From 12pm, enjoy live traditional Irish music all day in the front bar, starting with an Open Session from 12pm-2pm, followed by the talented Byrne Bro’s from 2pm-4pm. Another Open Session takes over from 4pm-6pm, leading into an energetic performance by Into the West from 6pm-8pm. Pair the tunes with €5 pints of Guinness and €2 oysters for the perfect day.
