Good Food Ireland has announced the finalists for the national awards, with seven businesses from Galway making the 2024 shortlist. The winners will be announced on November 11.

The Good Food Ireland® Awards 2024 celebrate Ireland’s large variety of food and drink businesses. They shine a light on all types of business from restaurants to manufacturers.

Good Food Ireland® highlights tourism-hospitality and retail businesses that prioritise local produce, which further supports Irish farmers, food producers and fishermen.

This year’s judging panel comprises a variety of Irish and international leaders with in depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, some names being Founder and Managing Director of Good Food Ireland® Margaret Jeffares and Lecturer in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism at TU Dublin Dr Detta Melia.

The Galway businesses that made the shortlist are Cashel House / Delphi Lodge & Estate for Culinary Haven of the Year, The King’s Head for Pub of the year, Aran Islands Goats Cheese for Dairy Producer of the Year, Aran Islands Goats Cheese & Tours for the Food Tourism Experience Award, JP McMahon, Aniar for Food Innovator of the Year, Connemara Smokehouse for Fish & Seafood Producer of the Year and Leahy Beekeeping for Sweet & Savoury Producer of the Year.

“We’re delighted to be back with another Good Food Ireland® Awards and, as part of the judging panel I have to admit that each year we do this, it gets harder due to the high calibre of entries and increasing commitment to prioritising local Irish produce. It is important that those businesses communicate this shared philosophy to inform customers and attract new visitors seeking an authentic, cultural Irish food or drink experience. Seeing all these businesses collaborate and work together across sectors to help build our island’s reputation for spectacular food and drink overseas in order to create inclusive economic growth is truly fantastic,” said Margaret Jeffares, Founder and Managing Director of Good Food Ireland.
