Independent Councillor Terry O’Flaherty has reported that Galway City Council has agreed to resurface the roads in both McDonagh and Pearse Avenues in Mervue.

Works will commence in McDonagh Avenue next week, and the following week in Pearse Avenue.

"I was successful in having the footpaths and roads reinstated in a number avenues in Old Mervue which had deteriorated over the years due to wear and tear and I’m now very pleased that the roads in both McDonagh and Pearse Avenues is going to be resurfaced which will be welcomed by the residents," Cllr O'Flaherty said.

"The city council could not carryout this work if the makeshift ramps [haunches] were still in place so it’s a win-win situation to have had them removed in the first place.

"I would like to thank the roads engineer, Mr Noel O Ceallaigh and his team for all the good work they have been doing in Mervue,” she added.
