Fianna Fáil General Election Candidate Gráinne Seoige has said Budget 2025 has prioritised the Gaeltacht.
The budget announced almost €107 million for the Gaeltacht next year to provide supports to Irish speaking communities. Funding was also announced for TG4, with it's total funding increasing to €60 million, an increase of almost €23 million since 2020.
Ms Seoige said, “Ár dTeanga is hugely important to me so I’m really pleased that €107 million is set to be invested in the Gaeltacht in 2025. This Budget measure is going to provide a huge variety of supports to Gaeltacht communities. We need to do everything we can to support our Irish speaking communities in the Gaeltacht and beyond. This money will help to do that."
When discussing the funding allocated to TG4, Ms Seoige said, "This increased funding will help support Irish language content. This includes Irish language children’s programming which is so important for fostering a love of Gaeilge at an early age. If elected I will be doing everything in my power to promote the Irish language."
