Galway West and South Mayo Sinn Féin TD Mairéad Farrell has called for Iarnród Éireann to return the catering trolley on the Galway – Dublin train by the end of the year.

“Considering that many people acknowledge that benefits of train travel for commuting or day trips, it’s a pity a cup of tea or coffee and a snack still aren’t a feature on trains travelling from Galway to Dublin,” said Teachta Farrell.

“This service was available up to the Covid emergency when it was discontinued but it has now returned on other trains including the Dublin to cork service. It is now high time for catering to return.

“A lot of people travel from Galway to Dublin daily for a variety of reasons. On a daily basis it’s a highly popular route. Therefore the catering trolley should once again be an option provided for these travellers.”
