On October 7, Druid Theatre announced Adrian O'Neill, former Ambassador of Ireland to the United Kingdom, as Chair of the new Board of Directors.

Originally from Dublin, Adrian is a former civil servant and diplomat who in 2010 was appointed Secretary General to the President of Ireland where he served both former President McAleese and President Michael D. Higgins. Adrian was also appointed as Ambassador of Ireland to the UK in 2017 and acted for five years.

Adrian's appointment comes at an exciting time for Druid Theatre as next year it celebrates its 50th anniversary. The theatre is also having great success with recent plays such as Tom Murphy's The House and Samuel Beckett's Endgame both staged in Galway.

Adrian O’Neill, the new Chair of Druid’s Board of Directors said he is honoured to accept the role of Chair of Druid’s Board of Directors.

"I have long admired Druid and the excellent work they do both at home and abroad. Their contribution as cultural ambassadors for Ireland over many years has been of major significance. As the company enters its 50th year, I look forward to working with my fellow Board members," he added.
