Saturday October 5 saw the inaugural Ciara Bowden Memorial Tournament in Maigh Cuilinn. Hosted by the U14 LGFA coaches and management, the memorial blitz was to commemorate a truly loved and missed teammate. Ciara’s mum Úna and younger sister Saoirse were also remembered on the day.
The tournament included neighbouring LGFA clubs Killannin and Oughterard who joined Maigh Cuilinn in a round robin competition. Conditions were harsh on all teams, but it did not dampen the spirit of the tournament, to be won on the day by the Killannin u14 team.
As a special mark of remembrance, the Maigh Cuilinn u14 team were presented with memorial kit comprising a bespoke crest with a tribute to Ciara and Saoirse Bowden. The kit was sponsored by local companies who have an affiliation with the club; NUA Surgical, Companion QMS and Xeinadin Accounting.
