The lights will be operated via sensors and will be available for use until 10pm every night without charge for runners and walkers.

“This project was prioritised by the last Council and I’m delighted to now see it fully completed,” says Councillor Eddie Hoare (FG ) who championed the project as mayor last year. “The lights will make the facility available throughout the winter period. More and more people are starting to exercise and facilities like this make it easier to get started.

“Thanks also to the team in Galway City Council for getting this project over the line and delivered. The councillors allocated the funding and the project has been delivered and will be available free of charge for use by residents for years to come.

“This is a great example of local government working well,” Hoare added.
