Galway Golf Club is proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of one of its brightest young talents, Liam Nolan. Having recently reached the pinnacle of his amateur golf career, Liam has now decided to pursue a future in professional golf, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his already illustrious career.

Liam’s outstanding amateur career saw him representing Great Britain & Ireland in the prestigious 2023 Walker Cup at St Andrews, as well as earning a spot in the Open Championship at Royal Troon. Most recently, Liam played a pivotal role in Ireland’s historic victory at the Home Internationals in Scotland, once again representing Galway Golf Club with great distinction. His accomplishments have raised the profile of the club, both nationally and internationally.

Now, with his university studies complete, Liam is setting his sights on the professional circuit. He has already participated in Challenge Tour events in Poland and Germany and has an ambitious schedule ahead, which includes the DP World Tour Q-School and potential invites to several high-profile tournaments.

While Liam possesses the talent, passion, and dedication necessary to succeed at the highest levels of professional golf, the financial demands of a young pro’s career can be a significant hurdle. Despite support from Golf Ireland and equipment sponsorship from Titleist, the costs associated with travel, accommodation, caddies, and other expenses far exceed the current backing available to him.

Recognizing the need to provide Liam with the best possible chance of success, a group of Galway Golf Club members have come together to form the Liam Nolan Supporters’ Group. Their goal is to ensure that Liam is financially equipped to focus fully on his game and take the next step toward realizing his potential in the professional ranks.

To support this effort, Galway Golf Club will host a major fundraising event on Friday, October 18, featuring an 18-hole Am Am competition, a buffet dinner, an auction, and a panel discussion hosted by RTE Sports Presenter Darren Frehill along with Aine Binchy, Deputy Chair Open Championship Committee.

The club’s Management Committee has generously provided the use of the course and clubhouse facilities for this event.
