The school is continually developing. Over the past four years, new modern specialist classrooms have been added and other classrooms upgraded, with more to follow. This development has served to enhance the existing facilities. Consequently, offer a wide and varied range of subjects, in modern surroundings, that caters to the taste of all students. Furthermore, with over 15 acres of grounds and playing fields the school offers outstanding facilities to encourage the holistic development of students through numerous exciting extra- and co-curricular activities.
The team believe in an all-encompassing educational experience for students, fostering excellent State examination results as well as being active outside the classroom setting. The school has a very busy and dedicated staff who readily give up their time to run activities for students and have achieved considerable success during the school's short existence.
For instance, Coláiste Muire Máthair is the current Irish Senior Science Quiz champion, recently won the U16 Boys Basketball championship, field boys’ and girls’ teams regularly in Gaelic football, soccer and volleyball, and had the most participants of any Galway school at the 2023 and 2024 BT Young Scientist Exhibition. There is also, among others, an active book club and games room running at lunchtimes.
