Looking for something a little different for your Christmas party this December? The beautifully restored Cottage — which was voted Best Restaurant in Galway earlier this year — will be hosting Christmas party nights on Thursday, December 5, Thursday, December 12 and Thursday, December 19.
The management and staff are inviting groups of all sizes — from small businesses to large companies — to go along and eat, drink and be merry. Blackrock Cottage head chef, Martin O’Donnell, and his team have crafted a special three-course set menu inspired by local ingredients and age-old Christmas culinary traditions, with a contemporary twist.
“The turkey and ham Wellington is always a huge favourite,” he said. “We forget sometimes that not everybody eats turkey and ham on Christmas Day, so a lot of people enjoy eating it when they go out. I always think it feels like Christmas when you’re eating turkey and ham.
"We also have a festive After Eight chocolate fondant which is made to order, and it oozes After Eight chocolate when you cut into it. That’s very popular too.”
The cosy atmosphere, quality service, beautiful food and a large selection of wines, cocktails and craft beers is what will set Blackrock Cottage apart in Galway this Christmas, according to Martin.
“The Cottage is such a lovely spot to meet up,” he explained. “From the kitchen, you can sense the atmosphere as the Christmas countdown gets under way.
“Everyone is happy and in good form and there’s a lovely vibe around the place. It’s really nice when you see families and friends meeting up, people embracing in the restaurant as they see each for the first time in ages, and it’s really nice. It just reminds you of what Christmas is all about.
“We’re expecting a great demand for our Christmas Party Nights and we think anybody who books won’t regret it," he added. "There’s something very special about Blackrock Cottage at Christmas.”
