Classic rock and Irish folk music will blare in Monroe’s this weekend with The Roadhouse Doors and legendary folk musician Daoirí Farrell taking to the stage at the Dominick Street venue.
For fans of classic rock, tomorrow, Friday, September 20, offers a special tribute to the iconic band The Doors. The Roadhouse Doors will transport the audience back to the heyday of 1960s LA with their authentic renditions of hits such as ‘Light My Fire’ and ‘Riders on the Storm.’
Using vintage instruments and nostalgic audio montages, they capture the spirit and sound that made the original band a cultural phenomenon. The party continues with DJ Flako from 11pm bringing the best of the ‘80s and ‘90s with his Flashback night.
Closing out the weekend on Saturday, September 21, Monroe’s Live will host one of Ireland’s foremost folk musicians, Daoirí Farrell. A master of the bouzouki with a voice that is recognised as one of the most important to come out of Ireland in recent years, Farrell has earned acclaim for his ability to breathe new life into traditional songs.
Performing in the intimate backstage venue, he brings the rich history of folk to life, drawing from his award-winning albums, including True Born Irishman and A Lifetime of Happiness. His deep connection to the folk tradition was honed in Dublin’s An Góilín Traditional Singers Club and he has since worked with luminaries such as Christy Moore, Dónal Lunny, Danú, Dervish, Kíla, and Sean Keane.
Afterwards, join DJ Macca for a night of chart hits and old school tunes from 11pm.
