Maxi Zoo, Ireland’s largest specialty pet retailer, has added Galway to its locations countrywide, having opened a new store at the Plaza on the Headford Road.

With 10 staff, the shop in the City of the Tribes stocks a wide selection of pet products, as well as providing free pet weighing, tailored pet advice and free parking. The retailer caters for all companion animals including dogs, cats, fish, small animals and wild birds. Maxi Zoo prides itself on its large range of products, including many Irish brands.

To celebrate the Galway store opening, a family fun weekend was held in-store Saturday and Sunday September 14th and 15th, with face painting and balloon modellers on site to provide entertainment. The red carpet was rolled out for the many dogs who arrived with their owners, to enjoy the products on offer.

Head of Marketing at Maxi Zoo Ireland Anthony Cremin said, “Establishing a presence in Galway has been a long-held ambition of Maxi Zoo, and it was great to see that plan come to fruition in the past week. We pride ourselves on being more than just a pet store; Maxi Zoo offers a range of services for companion animals and our Galway base will be no exception to this in terms of the quality customers can expect. We’re also celebrating older animals in all our stores across the country this month with our Senior Pet Event, and we’d love to see pet owners in this cohort avail of the advice and discounts we’re providing between now and the end of September.”

Established in Ballincollig, County Cork in 2006, Maxi Zoo now boasts a range of over 8,000 products with stores in 17 counties. The retailer has 34 stores in Ireland with free parking, free pet weighing and free pet advice. 13 of their stores are kitted out with grooming salons where expert groomers treat dogs to an all-round ‘feel good’ package from head to paw.

The company has been actively engaged in supporting various animal charities across Ireland since its establishment, raising hundreds of thousands of euros through numerous campaigns.
