Galway Camera Clubs 2024/25 Seasons opening night will take place next Thursday September 19 from 7.30pm and all are welcome. Due to upgrading works at the Club’s traditional venue the club has moved the location for meetings to The Knocknacarra Community Rooms at the Tesco Shopping Complex ,Kingstown Road, Knocknacarra Galway H91 E7KW.
The entrance is around the corner from Kingstown Dental practice to the left of Tescos entrance The Club looks forward to unveiling its exciting programme for the new season to all members. New members are always welcome and the opening night will showcase the various activities planned for the coming year.
If you are interested in joining a Camera Club and improving your photography skills, they would love to see you on opening night and outline what the club has to offer. to new and existing membersGalway Camera Club was founded over 60 years ago and caters for all levels of photography from beginners to experienced photographers in a friendly atmosphere. The Club meets on a weekly basis on Thursday nights from September to May with a short break for Christmas.
There is an exciting range of speakers, members presentations and activities lined up for the new season and all will be revealed on opening night. Guest speakers include James Crombie on 26th September who is a double winner of the Irish Press Photographer of the Year Award and will share his experience of covering the recent Olympics and his ongoing project on starling murmurations.In addition to a wide range of presentations, there will be assistance and tutorials for beginners and novice photographers on the basic elements of photography.
The club runs regular photography competitions, both digital and print, which provide valuable feedback which assist members in improving their skills. Club outings are arranged on a regular basis for locations around the city and further afield, that provide learning and photo opportunities in a friendly environment.
