The Oranmore community is abuzz with excitement as the new amalgamated primary school, Scoil Íosa, officially opened its doors last Thursday, August 29, marking the beginning of a new chapter in local education.
"This moment marks a significant milestone in our community as we bring together the strengths, traditions, and values of both Scoil Iósaif Naofa and Scoil Mhuire," said principal Maeve Meeneghan, who will lead the new school, together with the Board of Management and Leadership team.
“We are delighted that this amalgamation has come to fruition. It has been talked about in the community for over 20 years. It truly is a momentous change for the children of Oranmore and I am honoured to be a part of such a progressive change. This amalgamation allows us to pool resources and expertise, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education possible.
“We are committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students can thrive," she added. "The decision to amalgamate was not made lightly. It followed extensive discussions with various stakeholders all of whom shared a common goal: to create a co-educational school that offers the very best in education for our children. I am confident that our collective efforts will enable us to achieve this goal, ensuring that each student is supported to reach their full potential.
