Officially launching today (Thursday ), longstanding retailer Galway Bay Seafood is bringing its famously fresh fish west, following a partnership with Dunnes Stores in the Gateway Retail Park, Knocknacarra.
Known for 'bringing Galway the freshest fish since 1950', keeping its customers happy has been the ethos at the core of family run, local business, Galway Bay Seafoods for almost 75 years.
"The most important thing for us at Galway Bay Seafoods is our customers. Customer convenience is in our DNA and our new concession in Dunnes Stores is proof of that, it has been established with our customers in mind," said Galway Bay Seafoods' owner, Noel Holland, going on to explain, "Due to the high volume of traffic in Galway city, it can be difficult, at times, for our customers from the westside of the city and Knocknacarra to make the journey to our shop here at the Docks.
"So, instead of them coming to us, we are bringing our fresh fish to them," says Noel, punctuating his point with a grin.
Launching officially on today (Thursday ), the concession will operate within Dunnes Stores in a manner reminiscent of The English Market in Cork city, featuring alongside other independent retailers who have an outlet in the store. Staffed and stocked directly by Galway Bay Seafoods, the new outlet provides a stress free, accessible experience to its new and existing customers.
A family endeavour that has spanned three generations, the decision to partner with Dunnes supports both businesses' customers while helping to secure one of the last bastions of independent retailers in Galway.
"This partnership allows us to reach more of our customers and to directly deal with the people who buy our produce, something that is vital to us. It is important that we are in tune with our customer's needs."
