Two foot-stompin’ bands will headline at Monroe's Live this weekend with the finest of folk-rock and traditional Irish music from The Kilkennys and The Amazing Apples.
On Friday, August 23, The Kilkennys will blast traditional folk songs and ballads, for a late-night session beginning at 11pm. The gig kicks off just in time for revellers returning from the Wolfe Tones' performance in Galway Airport looking to continue their night.
Following in the footsteps of folk legends like The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, The Kilkennys features the talents of Davey Cashin, Tommy Mackey, and Mick Martin, who together bring a mix of original songs and beloved traditional melodies to life. Fresh from a successful tour of the Netherlands and a series of sell-out shows, they will deliver an evening of compelling musicianship and pristine vocal harmonies.
The Cherry Pickers will perform in the more intimate surrounds of the backstage venue from 8pm on Friday with support from The Radiators.
Meanwhile, Galway’s indie folk-rock sensation, The Amazing Apples, return to Monroe’s Live on Saturday, August 24, at 9pm. They will perform a rousing mix of Irish, Americana, and heavy rock anthems as part of their always high-energy performance.
With a blend of original compositions and covers, The Amazing Apples have become stalwarts in the folk-rock scene, both at home and abroad.
This talented group of multi-instrumentalists has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Mumford and Sons, Walking on Cars, The Coronas, and Gavin James.
Their debut album, A Little Sense, shot to Number Three in the Irish independent charts. The band has a unique style influenced by The Dubliners and The Waterboys.
With performances at major festivals like Electric Picnic and Sea Sessions, and international appearances in cities like New York and Boston, The Amazing Apples have solidified their reputation as one of Ireland’s must-see live acts.
