Gems taken in Athenry
At approx. 02:20 on Wednesday morning August 7, a jewellers shop in Athenry Shopping centre was broken into, entry was gained by culprits breaking through the front door of the premises.
A large quantity of jewellery was taken from the premises. A blue Audi or BMW was seen acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the burglary.
Anyone who may have seen any person or vehicle acting suspicious in the area or anyone who may be offered jewellery for sale is asked to contact Athenry Garda Station on 091-844016 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111.
Thefts From MPVs
Between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on Friday August 9, a White Vauxhall Vivaro van which was parked on the grounds of the University of Galway was broken into.
Culprits gained entry to the van by drilling the locks on the doors. A quantity of power tools were taken from the van. Items stolen were a blue Bosch Kangoo Hammer Drill, a yellow Rems Crimping tool, a yellow Dewalt Reciprocating saw and a quantity of green hose pipe.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any person or vehicle acting suspiciously in the area or any person who may have been offered any of these power tools for sale to contact Galway Garda Station 091-538000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111..
Between 2pm and 4pm on Friday afternoon August 9 at Tthe University of Galway, a white Renault Traffic Van was broken into, again entry was gained to the van by drilling the lock on the door.
A number of power tools were taken from the van. These tools included a Red Hilti Impact Driver, a red Hilti Skilsaw and a Red Milwaukee Router.
Galway Gardai are appealing to anyone who any have witnessed any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area to contact them on 091-538000.
Between 06:30pm and 9:30pm on Thursday evening August 8 at Hynes Yard Car Park, Galway a Grey Skoda Kodiaq jeep was broken into, a number of items were taken from the vehicle including grey Nintendo Switch, Black Beats Headphones and 6 Nintendo Games.
Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspicious in the area or who may have been offered any of these items for sale is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.
Theft of farm equipment
Between 12am on Tuesday July 6 and 5pm on Saturday August 3 at Woodquay, Tuam, Co. Galway a number of wooden fencing stakes, Fencing wire and a Fence battery were stolen from a farm.
Between 7:30pm on August 5 and 7:30pm on 0August 6 at Kilmurray, Dunmore, Co Galway, a solar powered electric fence, 50 fencing insulators, six ratchets and ten fencing posts were stolen from farmland.
Anyone who may have noticed any vehicles or persons acting suspiciously in these areas or anyone who may know the current whereabouts of these items is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093-70840
Investment fraud
Gardaí are receiving an increased amount reports of investment frauds where an injured party might see an investment opportunity on Instagram or Facebook involving crypto currency.
They are asking the public to please double check any prompts online inviting persons to avail of appealing investment opportunities, and to ensure the legitimacy before clicking on any links and entering personal details.
They would also like to remind listeners to never share bank pin numbers online as the Bank will never ask you to share your pin.
