Assault victim knocked unconscious in city

Gardaí in Galway are investigating an assault that took place on William Street outside Brown Thomas on the 4th of August early Sunday morning at 1am.

Burglary at Ballyhaigue

Gardaí in Williamstown are investigating a break-in to a house at Ballyhaigue, Williamstown that occurred between Thursday and Friday August 1-2.

Fire causes damage at Educate Together school

Gardaí in Salthill are investigating a criminal damage incident that occurred on August 3 at 4.15am at the Educate Together School, Cappagh Road, Knocnknacarra, Galway.

A fire was lit resulting in damage to a prefab at the school.

Criminal damage at Church Hill, Ballinaslsoe

Gardaí in Ballinasloe are investigating a criminal damage incident that occurred at Church Street, Ballinasloe between Friday and Saturday August 2-3.

The car owner returned to his car and discovered the driver’s side window had been smashed.

Galway Utd vs St Pats

Galway Utd Play St Pats this Sunday August 11 at Eamonn Deacy Park. The match kicks off at 3pm.

Gardaí wish to advise motorist of parking restrictions that will be in place close to the stadium and road closures close to the time of the kick off and to expect larger volume of traffic in the area due to the match.

Streets of Galway Race

The Galway Clinic Streets of Galway 8k Road Race event is expected to take place on Saturday August 10 at 7pm.

Starting at The Claddagh, the run will make its way through the city’s streets, following a course out around Salthill and the prom, finishing in The Claddagh at South Park.

There will be no parking available at Claddagh Hall, Grattan Road, or at the GTI.

Gardai would like to remind the public that parking will be available at the Cathedral Car Park, Jurys Inn or Hynes Car Park Merchants Road, or in Salthill carparks.

On the day, please follow event marshal’s instructions along with Gardaí where rolling road closures will be in place for the duration of the event.
