O’Donnellan & Joyce, a leading expert both locally and nationally for selling properties by auction, reported an excellent day for both buyers and sellers alike at its auction on Wednesday July 24.

Properties throughout Ireland from Mayo to Offaly went under the auction hammer, attracting not only local but also national and international interest.

The live stream auction was conducted in the office of O’Donnellan & Joyce, which was transformed into a large auction studio by Brandt International. The live auction, overseen by leading auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan, was streamed internationally with people bidding by phone and online while also watching the auction live.

Lot 1 – Ted Nealon Road, Adelaide Street, Sligo

Lot 1 of the day was a split-level building on a corner site. Seldom does a property come on the market in such a strategic location — this was the closest property to the town centre on the inner relief road. This property generated much interest and after intense bidding between three bidders this lot was sold for €225,000, exceeding its reserve price.

Lot 3 – Pallas, Tynagh, Loughrea, Co Galway

Lot 3 was a large four bedroom detached farmhouse in a rural setting, offering spacious living accommodation. The property requires modernising and upgrading throughout but this did not put off the four bidders who went head to head on the day. It was sold for €130,000, exceeding its reserve price of €90,000.

Lot 4 - Nos 6 & 7 Park House, The Square, Claremorris, Co Mayo

This lot comprised two neighbouring one bedroom apartments being sold as one lot, located within a small complex of seven apartments just off The Square in Claremorris. This excellent opportunity was sold for €110,000.

Lot 6 – Beechfield House, Treascon, Portarlington, Co Laois

Lot 6 was a four bedroom detached residence in a rural setting on a large site of circa 1 acre. The property is situated approximately 4km from Portarlington. This property attracted much interest with four people bidding intensely. It eventually sold for €265,000, exceeding its reserve price of €220,000.

Lot 7– No 1622 Pairc Mhuire, Newbridge, Co Kildare

Lot 7 was a three bedroom end-of-terrace residence situated in Newbridge town centre. This is an established development and would make an excellent investment property. This opportunity was noticed by many and it was sold at auction for €180,000.

Lot 12 – No 51 Forster Court, Galway

No 51 Forster Court is a wonderful two bedroom Galway city centre bungalow, tucked away in a quiet, well-maintained, mature development less than five minutes' walk from Eyre Square. This property caught the eye of many due to its location right in the heart of Galway city, and the winning bidder secured it for €350,000.

Lot 15 – No 72 The Rise, Knocknacarra, Galway

Lot 15 is a four bed semidetached home in the popular residential development of The Rise, Knocknacarra, Galway, which was sold occupied. This lot brought in four interested bidders and it was sold for €250,000.

This was the fourth of seven auctions in 2024 for O'Donnellan & Joyce. Colm O’Donnellan said the team were delighted with the brilliant results, and with the number of properties that they obtained throughout Ireland to sell by auction.

O’Donnellan & Joyce’s next live steam auction is taking place on Friday, September 20.
