New locally distilled vodka celebrates Ireland's farming heritage

A fifth-generation farming family in Athenry are breathing new life into an old Irish tradition - by distilling vodka from Irish heritage potatoes.

Faced with a surplus of potatoes, they turned to a new way to use their produce, and created Counting Pigs, a refreshingly smooth vodka which is now available to buy.

Counting Pigs is made with rare heritage potato varieties, and offers an interesting new way to enjoy locally grown produce. Traditionally one of the main ingredients in poitín, potatoes have seen a resurgence in recent years as a staple source of the sugars needed to distill vodka.

Triple distilled for maximum smoothness, Counting Pigs manages to combine Ireland's agricultural and distillation heritage. The company's commitment to quality ensures that every bottle produced is a sip of Irish history.

Its crisp, pristine taste and and velvety smooth finish promises to delight even the most discerning palates. To find out more see www.countingpigs.ie
