The Galway Senior Camogie team will face their toughest opposition yet when they take on Tipperary in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Semi-Final on Saturday at 3pm in Nowlan Park.
This will be the third meeting of the sides this year, with Tipperary getting the upper hand on Galway in their two league encounters earlier in the year.
Tipperary took the league title back on April 14 when they halted Galway’s three-in-a-row attempt in the Division 1 league final.
Only a point separated the sides last time out, but both teams have seen the return of key players since. Cait Devane is back into the Tipperary set up, while players like Niamh Mallon, Niamh Kilkenny and Niamh Hanniffy only featuring as substitutes on the day of the League Final.
Galway will think back to their heartbreak last season when Cork got the better of them on their third time of asking. This year, Galway are in the same boat as Cork were last year, and they will be hoping use the experience of 2023 to haul them over the line this time around.
Tipperary have had an unbeaten run to this point of the championship, and have continued their good form from the league final. They will be hoping to forget what happened last year against Waterford, and will be hoping to go one step further this year. Tipperary had wins over Antrim, Limerick, Derry, Waterford and Kilkenny in their group stages, finishing with five wins from five.
Galway on the other hand have had a mixed bag when it comes to their campaign to date. The squad has suffered with injuries throughout, and have been missing key players at certain stages throughout the campaign. They had convincing wins over Clare and Down, as well as a three point win over Dublin, a draw against Wexford and a loss to Cork during the group stages.
Their heavy defeat to Cork seemed to inspire the girls however, as they put in a good performance against Waterford in Croke Park in the quarter-final.
It is all to play for, and both sides will be hoping to go one step further than last year and break the semi-final bridge.
There will be nothing between the sides and it promises to be an exciting encounter.
