The Galway People of the Year Awards were inaugurated way back in 1995 to give public recognition to individuals and groups who through their personal leadership, participation, courage, or achievements have made an outstanding contribution in their local communities at home or abroad.
The awards are now recognised as the highest accolade a person can receive in this county, as every recipient will be chosen by the people of Galway through a public nomination process and finalised by an independent adjudication panel
If you know some individual or group who has done their community proud at home or abroad, people who bring joy and light to the lives of others, someone who has shown true strength and courage in the face of adversity, or those who have supported others in their darkest hour, why not nominate them for a Galway People of the Year Award. As well as Individuals, joint nominations or groups can also be nominated.
While there are no category awards guidelines for nominations include community activity, enterprise and employment, arts, culture, charity work, leadership, sport, research, medical, media, or personal achievement etc.
The nomination process is very simple — put forward the name of the individual or group you wish to nominate the reason for doing so and any supporting material.
