Talented multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer Tara Howley will perform at Monroe’s Live on Sunday, July 28, at 8pm as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.
Having recently released her new album Take Two, featuring traditional music and song, this is a unique opportunity to see the Kilfenora native as she showcases her latest work.
Tara gained international acclaim for her role as the lead uilleann piper and whistle player with Riverdance.
Classically trained, she has leveraged her technical skills to connect with audiences worldwide, and began her career gigging in Doolin at the age of 15.
Inspired by County Clare uilleann piper Blackie O’Connell, Howley mastered the instrument and earned recognition in the traditional music scene. With numerous all-Ireland titles, she has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America.
In 2019 Howley joined the RTÉ Concert Orchestra as a soloist for the 'Riverdance 25th Anniversary' album and DVD.
Her career highlights include collaborations with the Afro Celt Sound System and an album with Malaysia's Faliq Auri which reached listeners in over 66 countries.
She has also featured on national and international television programmes and documentaries.
Howley has performed alongside James Galway, and gave an exclusive concert for Steven Spielberg during his visit to Ireland.
