Councillor Eddie Hoare has welcomed confirmation that the Children’s Millennium Playground on University Road is set to be fully upgraded in the coming months. A contractor will be appointed in July.
“This confirmation is most welcome," Cllr Hoare said. "As Mayor I highlighted this project as a priority and I’m delighted to see it being progressed. A social inclusive playground has been specified with a medieval theme which is very fitting given the location of the playground. This is one of the best used playgrounds in the city and the park retained the Green Flag status again this year. All the staff need to be commended for the ongoing upkeep of the park.
"Also, I have requested that works on the repair of the Ballinfoyle Playground be expedited," he added. "It’s so disappointing to see the vandalism here and it impacts on the wider community. These works will hopefully be completed in July."
