Excitement is building around the country with just days to go before one of the standout national events for the Irish vintage and classic movement. On Sunday June 30, Galway Racecourse in Ballybrit will once again reverberate to the thunder of horsepower of a very different kind, when it opens its gates for Classic Fest 2024. Attracting a massive turnout of vintage and classic vehicles of all kinds, from cars to steam engines and everything in between, the last two years of Classic Fest have cemented its status as one of the premier events of its kind anywhere on the island, with even more family fun in store for 2024.
Hosted by Irish Vintage Scene, publisher of Ireland’s leading old vehicle magazines, Classic Fest will this year support one of the best-loved charities in the country in the BUMBLEance children’s ambulance service, which each year undertakes approximately 2,000 trips for children in need of specialist medical attention during transport. Operating to reduce stress on young patients and financial hardship on their parents, BUMBLEance is the first service of its kind in the world, with 15 vehicles specially kitted out with flat-screen TVs, onboard wifi, games consoles, music, books and more, to make each journey as comfortable and fun as it can possibly be.
Classic Fest has already become renowned as much for its family fun and entertainment as its epic line-up of vintage and classic vehicles. This year’s live music artists have just been confirmed, with the crowds rocking to both Sabrina Fallon and Sean Slattery & The Connections over the course of the day. Free children's activities will be dotted all around the massive venue, along with autojumble and trade stands of all kinds and food vendors catering for every taste to make the day a memorable outing for all ages. And acres of free parking will make getting to and from the event a doddle.
“We are delighted to return to Galway Racecourse for Classic Fest 2024,” said event organiser Thomas Heavey of Irish Vintage Scene, Oranmore, Galway. “It’s undoubtedly one of the finest venues in the country for such an event, which along with the fantastic support of the vintage and classic fraternity and the general public has contributed to it becoming one of the biggest events on the summer show calendar. With further announcements in store over the coming weeks, we look forward to welcoming you all to Classic Fest on Sunday June 30.”
