Celebrate your special day at Blackrock Cottage

Looking for a romantic setting with a cosy atmosphere and a meal to remember as you celebrate your wedding day? Then look no further than Blackrock Cottage in Salthill.

The restored famine-era cottage is proving to be a popular choice for intimate weddings this summer as the award-winning restaurant’s stellar reputation for fine dining continues to grow.

Situated beside the iconic diving tower, at the end of Salthill Promenade, Blackrock Cottage also provides the perfect backdrop for photographs of your special day.

Between the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, and the opportunity to watch the sun go down on Galway Bay, from either the front door of the Cottage or its well-appointed terrace overlooking The Prom, there is no shortage of picture-perfect options.

For weekend weddings, couples have the option of hiring one section of Blackrock Cottage for groups of up to 45 people and have the area all to themselves for the evening.

Weddings with a difference

A welcome reception featuring drinks and canapés will be served on arrival, followed by a three-course menu that has been designed by Blackrock Cottage’s award-winning head chef, Martin O’Donnell.

“The wedding menu that we’ve created is what we feel people want to experience and enjoy when they’re having a romantic meal with friends and family to celebrate their special day,” explained Martin.

“We’ve got the likes of oysters, beef fillet and turbot, all sourced from local producers. It’s not too complicated because we want it to appeal to a broad range of people, so I think it will satisfy both ‘foodies’ and more simple eaters.”

Martin admitted that he’s not surprised that there have been a lot of wedding reception enquiries recently to Blackrock Cottage, given the venue’s award-winning exploits, its unique design and the romantic Salthill setting.

“We think people will choose to come to the Cottage because it’s such an intimate atmosphere and the location is phenomenal. You have the cosy atmosphere of the Cottage and a quality dining experience, plus, you can go for a lovely romantic walk along the Prom after dinner, relaxing under the stars.

“For anyone getting a taxi, or who has a designated driver, there’s the option of trying some of our fine wines or bespoke cocktails,” he added. “We now also have Guinness on tap and our own Galway Hooker craft beer, ‘The Cottage’ which is proving to be very popular. Along with a large range of alcohol-free options, so people really are spoilt for choice in that regard.”

Blackrock Cottage will also cater for larger wedding parties on weekday evenings (Monday to Wednesday ). For more information, contact Mathieu on 091-399280 or e-mail [email protected]
