KPMG Ireland has announced the eight shortlisted companies that will compete in the Ireland final of the KPMG Global Tech Innovator competition 2024. One of the companies named is Galway's Precision Sports Technology.

Galway's Emma Meehan is the founder of the company - her app gives coaches and physiotherapists up to date feedback about their client's exercise technique - making the process easier for both parties. Furthermore, the app helps to reduce injury and improve performance by regular surveillance.

As a competitive weightlifter and computer scientist, Meehan has a vested interest in both components of her company's directive.

Precision Sports Technology has already signed up teams from the NFL and Premier League. Hence, being named as a finalist in this year's KPMG Ireland Global Tech Innovator event is another notch on the company's upward trajectory.

The competition

Now in its fourth year, this competition provides a platform to showcase the best of Ireland’s emerging tech innovators across a range of sectors.

The finalists were selected after evaluating a high volume of exceptional entries. They will now pitch their innovations and growth ambitions to an esteemed panel of judges.

The panel comprises Will Prendergast, Partner and Co-founder, Frontline; Dr. Patricia Scanlon, Founder Soapbox Labs; Eimear Hennessy, Global Head of Enterprise Services, Stripe; Barry Napier, CEO, Cubic Telecom and Anna Scally, Head of Technology & Media, KPMG Ireland and KPMG EMA TMT Sector Lead.

The finalists

The shortlisted companies from Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kildare and Limerick offer a diverse range of solutions.

These include a digital consumer research platform; the world’s first electric vehicle charger and heat pump/air conditioning unit in one; AI-driven supplier-sourcing software; remote online notarisation solution; Money Movement platform; an app that helps improve fitness training performance and reduce the risk of injury; fintech and software solutions enabling businesses access and connect multiple data sources to help optimise and grow supply chains.

The Ireland final will be broadcast on social media and on the KPMG website throughout July and August, and the winner will be announced in early September. The Global Tech Innovator Ireland winner will then compete against tech innovators from 23 countries and jurisdictions in the global final in November.
