Singer-songwriter Teddy Thompson will perform at Monroe’s Live on Thursday, July 25, at 8pm as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

The only son of British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, Teddy began his musical journey in his teens and quickly caught the attention of Virgin Records.

Over the years, he has released numerous albums and collaborated with renowned artists such as Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Allison Moorer, Shelby Lynn, Dori Freeman and Roseanne Reid.

He is celebrated for his rich, honey-toned voice, and his ability to convey deep emotion through his music. He carves his own path that blends British folk, American pop, and country elements.

Thompson’s discography includes multiple albums and production work, solidifying his place in the industry as a versatile and talented musician.

His album, My Love of Country, is a stunning reinterpretation of classic country songs originally made famous by George Jones, Patsy Cline, Porter Wagoner and many others. Thompson has also reimagined the great country duets with Jenni Muldaur.

In his 2020 release Heartbreaker Please, Thompson candidly explores the themes of love and loss, drawing from a real-life breakup with New York as the backdrop. His lyrics reflect the complexities of relationships, featuring elements of ‘60s doo-wop and ‘80s synth-pop, while staying true to rock n' roll and country roots.
