Fresh from releasing The Accidental Album earlier this year, guitar virtuoso and singer-songwriter Freddie White will perform in Galway tomorrow night.
The Cork man who toured with Eric Clapton will play Monroe’s Live on Friday, June 14, with doors at 7.30pm.
White’s album is a nostalgic journey released on vinyl, featuring remastered live performances recorded between 1979 and 1990. It offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of this iconic artist, showcasing the magnetic energy of his live shows.
Although the sound quality isn't pristine, the decision to release this compilation on vinyl preserves the raw, authentic atmosphere characteristic of his gigs.
With a career spanning five decades, the Co Cork native is a luminary in the music industry. Growing up in a musical family, he began his music career at a young age. At nineteen, he moved to London, where he spent two years busking in subways and developing his unique voice and guitar style.
In 1974, White co-founded the folk rock-jazz fusion group, The Sunday Night Band, with Philip King and Sonny Condell. Although he left the band the following year, it evolved into the well-known group Scullion.
In 1977, White formed The Fake, regarded as one of the seminal Irish bands of the late ‘70s. The following year, he established The Freddie White Band, which toured with Eric Clapton, while his tour with Clannad became a pivotal moment in an illustrious career.
An international touring artist, Freddie White's career has left an indelible mark on the music world and he will bring this body of work to Monroe’s Live on Friday, June 15, at 7:30pm.
