Anthony Ryan’s to sponsor ‘Best Hat’ and ‘Best Dressed Lady’competitions at Galway Races

A city fashion store which is celebrating 100 years in business has increased its commitment to Ladies Day at the Galway Races.

With less than a month to go to one of the most exciting events on the Irish fashion calendar, Anthony Ryan’s - sponsors of the Best Dressed Lady Competition at the event which takes place on Thursday July 30 - has announced it will also sponsor the Best Hat competition.

There is a prize bonanza of more than €13,500 on offer making this high fashion event a not to be missed occasion.

Conscious of the current economic climate, competition organisers have chosen the theme “Style is Eternal” to encourage entrants to choose ensembles which reflect their personal sense of style.

“Yves St Laurent once said, ‘Fashion fades - style is eternal’,” says Anthony Ryan, managing director of Anthony Ryans. “Celebrating our centenary and mindful of the times we are living in we have chosen this theme to encourage ladies entering to focus on true style. True style doesn’t have to break the bank - however it does have to be appropriate to the occasion and to the wearer demonstrating creativity, panache and clever use of accessories.

“Over the last number of years Ladies Day at the Galway Races has eclipsed all other events, attracting participation levels unmatched anywhere else in the country. This year our panel of judges will be on the lookout to find the lady with an innate sense of style who can put together a winning ensemble irrespective of the price tag.”

The Best Dressed Lady will walk away with a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,000, €2,000 in cash and €2,000 in vouchers for a shopping spree at Anthony Ryans.

The prize for the winner of the “Best Hat” is a luxury trip for two to a top European destination including flights and accommodation valued at €1,500.
