FF’s Daragh Ó Tuairisg welcomes grant funding for Connemara South sports club

Fianna Fáil Local Election Candidate, Daragh Ó Tuairisg, has welcomed Government grant funding for five sports clubs in Connemara South. Mr Ó Tuairisg said; “As a Fianna Fáil candidate in the local election for Connemara South, I welcome the sports equipment grants being awarded to; Club Dornálaíochta & Aclaíochta Chonamara Teoranta in Casla; Coiste Páirc an Chathánaigh, An Cheathrú Rua; Comharchumann Mhic Dara Teo, An Cheathru Rua; Cumann Húicéirí na Gaillimhe, An Cheathrú Rua; and Muintir na Tíre, Mháigh Cuilinn t/a Coiste Páirc Máigh Cuilinn.

“I recognise the importance of sports equipment grants for local clubs and community organisations. These grants can make a significant difference in supporting grassroots sports and community development.”

The funding was announced by Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne TD, as part of a record total overall allocation of €26 million in equipment grants nationwide under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP ).

Mr Ó Tuairisg added; “It’s wonderful to witness the dedication and hard work that club members and volunteers in Galway invest every week now being acknowledged with this grant funding.

“The grants will be instrumental in supporting clubs with crucial equipment and enhancements, like pitch renovations and acquiring gym gear.

“The grants reflect the priority Fianna Fáil in Government places on encouraging and facilitating sporting participation and excellence across the country.”
