“The Government shouldn’t approve any more price hikes in petrol or diesel, in the light of the recent price increases in fuels” Galway City West Sinn Féin local election candidate, Cathal Ó Conchúir has said.
“While I acknowledge that there may undoubtedly be external factors affecting these price increases, the government should, as a cost of living measure, lower the tax on petrol. For once the tax on ‘old reliables’ such as fuels should be re-thought. No more price hikes - and the savings passed on to consumers!””This price increase and the two more forecast this year has a very negative effect not only on already stretched ordinary consumers but on our competitiveness as a country, ‘’ Mr Ó Conchúir added.
