Candlelight vigil and concert tonight to remember lives lost to suicide

Galwegians who have lost their lives through suicide will be remembered at a special candlelight vigil and concert in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church tonight at 8pm.

The vigil is part of events around World Suicide Prevention Day and is being organised by the Irish charity, 3TS - Turning The Tide of Suicide.

The purpose of the event is to remember those who have lost their lives through suicide and to raise awareness for suicide prevention in Ireland. It is open to the public and will be marked with a minute’s silence to remember those who have lost their lives to suicide.

Performing will be the great traditional music fiddler Frankie Gavin (who is a patron of 3TS ), vocalist Michelle Lally, composer Carl Hession, and the Jes College Orchestra. Labour Party president and Galway West TD Michael D Higgins will also speak.
