Grunge nostalgia for Pearl Jam

Inspired by the international grunge icons, Irish band Light Years will pay tribute to Pearl Jam at Monroe’s Live on Friday, May 31, at 11pm.

This energetic five-piece is returning to Galway to recreate the alternative indie vibe that made the Seattle rockers famous.

As ardent fans of Pearl Jam, Light Years enthral audiences with their interpretations of the band's extensive catalogue. Their sheer passion for the band shines through as they offer their own take on Pearl Jam's timeless hits.

“As Pearl Jam fans first and foremost, we have taken a great amount of time and effort to ensure that our show is nothing but a marker of love and respect to the source material.

“The energy from a crowd is vital to the effect of the live show, and without our fellow Pearl Jam fans, we would just be five guys in a room playing songs that we love,” they say.

This is an opportunity to enjoy the music of one of the most influential groups of the ‘90s. Compared with the other grunge bands of the era, their style is reminiscent of the classic rock melodies of the 1970s, mixed with a blend of post-punk grit.

From their ground-breaking debut album Ten to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Pearl Jam has left a lasting impression, selling millions of albums worldwide.
