German Pelkan set to take flight

German electric vehicle brand B-ON has launched a new fully-electric van, called the Pelkan.

At the Birmingham commercial launch, company CEO Bruno Lambert said the Pelkan will feature a class-leading payload of up to 1,350kg, and two battery variants of 43 and 54 kWh designed to provide extended range up to 226 and 279 km, respectively.

The company also announced a joint venture with Chinese automobile brand Chery Group, which will focus on developing, producing, and selling all-electric commercial vehicles.

The Pelkan will be delivered to customers in mainland Europe beginning mid 2024. Pricing and specification for Ireland is expected to be announced by distributor International Motors Limited (IML ) during the summer.

B-ON is based in Germany and is owned by Deutsche Post DHL Group. It has been producing and deploying electric fleets globally since 2017.
