Boasting a new adventure park, multiple on-site eateries, guided tours and a leisure centre, the new and improved Westport House and Estate is a must visit destination this summer.

Long regarded as one of Mayo's premier tourist attractions, Westport House has welcomed more than five million visitors since opening its doors to the public in 1960. Built by the Browne family in 1730, Westport House is considered to be one of Ireland's most beautiful historic homes, and has been described as one of Ireland's 'national treasures'.

Direct descendants of the pirate queen, Gráinne Mhaol, referred to commonly by her anglicised name of Grace O'Malley, the Browne family managed the estate for more than 300 years until 2017 when they sold the property, and the 400 acre estate, to the Hughes family from Westport.

A family of successful entrepreneurs, the Hughes family are known locally as the owners of Hotel Westport, as well as being the founders of clothing company, Portwest, and they have wasted no time in polishing the diamond that is Westport House, and restoring its shine.

Having created a master plan for the entire estate that will ensure the sustainability and viability of the house and estate into the future, there have been multiple upgrades and renovation projects carried out on the house and estate. Having recently undergone renovations, Westport House continues to welcome visitors, with regularly scheduled guided tours available.
