Rossaveel woman Deirdre Jennings was selected as the 2024 Galway Rose at the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit on Saturday night.

Sponsored by Tribe Hospitality Group Deirdre is a Medical Social Worker in University Hospital Galway. She works on the geriatrics team and thoroughly enjoys working with older adults and their families. In her spare time, Deirdre enjoys going to art classes, the gym and bringing her dog, Pooka, for walks. Deirdre is always working on personal growth, self-care, maintaining positive mental health, and helping others do the same. Deirdre loves to travel and has been as far away as India, Africa and Australia and also loves a good road trip at home in Ireland with family and friends.

The 2024 Galway Rose Selection judges, Róisín Egenton Lawless (2022 Rose of Tralee ), Donal Gill (2010 Rose of Tralee Rose Escort ) and Karina Duffy (Director of Sales & Marketing ) assessed each entrant through individual and group interviews, as well as their stage interview with Galway Bay FM’s Ollie Turner at Saturday’s Selection Night.

The Roses also went on a tour of the county, and visited local sponsors, attractions and supporters using Geraghty Travel, visiting the Eyre Square Centre, Galway Atlantaquaria, The Corrib Princess, Summerfield Bar (Salthill ), The Eyre Square Centre, The Athenry Heritage Centre, Basilico Restaurant (Oranmore ), The Skeff and Hyde Bar.

Galway Rose Coordinators, Anne Marie Doyle & Deirdre O’Sullivan, said MC Ollie Turner won over the crowd with his signature style of serious interviewing and hilarious anecdotes as he watched the Roses sing, dance, play musical instruments, perform CPR, do Lámh and turn turf and perform dry needling to name a few! All of the Rose entrants were of exceptionally high calibre and the night was very entertaining for the audience as they were introduced to 23 inspiring women who had interesting stories which celebrated the women and their achievements and interests.”
