Hear the Elvis Costello songbook in Galway

Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish

Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish

Following the release of their critically acclaimed album ‘Country Darkness - the songs of Elvis Costello', English duo My Darling Clementine play Monroe’s Live on Saturday, May 4.

The compilation from couple Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish also features Elvis Costello's long-time right-hand man, piano maestro Steve Nieve. Together, they have reworked 12 Costello songs into duets, adding their unique style and creativity to these classics.

My Darling Clementine is the work of Birmingham-based pair Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish, who began playing together in 2010.

Dalgleish has worked with luminaries like Bryan Ferry, Steven Spielberg, and The Brodsky Quartet, while King, the former leader of The Good Sons, has released several solo albums and collaborative works.

Their style draws inspiration from classic American country duos of the 1960s and 1970s, much like Tammy Wynette and George Jones, or Johnny Cash and June Carter. Their debut album, How Do You Plead? featured some of London’s finest musicians from the 70’s pub rock era and solidified Clementine’s presence in the landscape of Americana.

Described as “masterly cinematic interpretations” of Costello’s legacy, My Darling Clementine's current live show promises to be a captivating experience.

Support on the night is from Martin Praetorius.
