Senator Seán Kyne is urging Galway businesses to take advantage of a new grant scheme to directly help small and local businesses with costs they are facing.
More than a quarter of a billion euro has been secured for the Increased Cost of Business scheme. The grant is available for all businesses with yearly rates bill of up to €30,000.
“In Galway City, this means 3,169 businesses are eligible while a further 3,755 around the county are eligible. However, as of the end of last week only 867 businesses in the city had applied while 860 in the county had done so.
“Businesses with a rates bill of up to €10,000 from last year will receive a grant worth half of their rates bill to help with business costs right now. Meanwhile, businesses with a rates bill of between €10,000 and €30,000 will receive a direct grant of €5,000.
“To help minimise the administrative work, local authorities are administering the scheme on behalf of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke, TD. While the city and county councils are contacting local businesses about the scheme, I’d encourage all businesses in Galway to start the straight-forward registration process by visiting www.mycoco.ie/icob” stated Senator Kyne
“The closing date is Wednesday, May 1 so businesses should apply as soon as possible. This grant is just one of the ways Fine Gael is backing business, in particular our small and local businesses who are the backbone of our communities around the city and county” concluded Senator Kyne.
