One hundred new jobs in the health services sector to be based at the former tax office in Eyre Square are expected to be announced by the IDA tomorrow (Friday ) afternoon.
The company which cannot be named at this stage, is an innovator in the health services sector and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a much larger medical insurance company that used to have a significant base in the county.
The number of jobs to be based at Hibernian House will commence at the 100-mark, but is expected to grow substantially when the company will eventually move to a larger premises elsewhere in the city.
The new company works hand in hand with plans, providers and patients to find solutions to health care challenges.
Its products accelerate delivery of innovative and flexible solutions to meet the diverse needs of health plans, employers, and government organisations, as well as pharmacy beneftt management.
The jobs boost at the former Revenue Commissioners office will be welcome as it will be utilising one of the most architecturally-signifcant buildings in the city centre.
Hibernian House which was built in 1850 formerly housed the Galway County Club. With its imposing ashlar limestone facade, it is a striking landmark on Eyre Square.
Its symmetrical and classically proportioned façade is punctuated by full-height pilasters and well-defined entablatures. The quality of the stonework and its well executed tetrastyle Tuscan portico contribute to its architectural interest.
The announcement of the Galway jobs will be made at lunchtime to coincide with the opening of the US stock exchange.
