Galway City Community Network have submitted their proposals to the public consultation on the Browne Roundabout pedestrian and cyclist crossings to the Active Travel team in Galway City Council today.
The submission comes about after consultations with the Environment Linkage Group. GCCN would like to thank the environment linkage group members, the GCCN Transport SPC Representatives and Access for All Galway members for their time and valuable input on the proposals.
GCCN Development Coordinator, Brian Doherty, stated that the Browne Roundabout has been a notorious black spot on the westside of the city for pedestrians and cyclists for years.
"So we are delighted to see that Galway City Council are now looking to make progress on making it safer.
"Our community representatives and Access for All members felt that the initial design proposals needed some improvements, so we have submitted those to the Active Travel team, and we hope the community will be heard.
"GCCN represents over 170 community groups across the city, so we feel it is imperative we are listened to," they said.
