Gardai hunting vandals who targeted city and county churches as Easter approaches

Gardai across the county are hunting the thieves who targeted three Connemara churches in the last week.

Gardaí in Ros Muc are investigating a burglary that occurred at Gortmore Church, Ros Muc, between March 18 and March 23 where damage was caused to interior of the church.

They are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area during this period or anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact Ros Muc Garda Station on 091-574 102 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.

Gardaí in An Spidéal are investigating a burglary that occurred in Cill Éinde Church, An Spidéal, between March 18 and March 23 where access was gained and an attempt was made to take items from the church.

Gardaí in An Spidéal are looking to speak to anyone who may have any information in relation to this incident and are asked to contact An Spidéal Garda station on 091-553 122.

Officers in Indreabhán are investigating a burglary that occurred at Cill Treasa Church between March 18 and March 19, where access was gained to the church and the property was damaged.

They are looking for anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact them at Indreabhán Garda Station on 091-593 102 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.

Meanwhile in the city, in Galway are investigation a criminal damage incident that occurred at St Mary’s Church, Claddagh Quay, on March 22 between 2:30pm and 3:20pm where a full-size Sacred Heart statue was damaged.

Gardaí in Galway are looking for anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538 000 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
