Works progressing on Ceannt Station but Connolly says public need to be kept informed

Work is progressing on the multi-million euro redevelopment of Ceannt Station with one set of the tracks entering the station having been removed in recent days.

Cllr John Connolly has called on Iarnrod Eireann to ensure that the public are kept informed of the works and of the impact of the works on any train scheduling.

“It would be important that the public are kept informed of the impact of the works as they progress and what interruptions could be caused by the ongoing works,” he said.

“The significant impact of the track being removed is that over the coming weeks, passengers will be obliged to access the platform from the entrance at the top of Ceannt Station, north of where the Bus Eireann buses collect and drop passengers.

“My understanding is that patrons will not be able to use the entrance from the car park or the traditional entrance where the ticket office exists to access the platform. Works are to commence on the existing building.

“Passengers need to be made aware of this to ensure that they make adequate provision to ensure they make their train departure time, the walk from the existing car park to this point could take a number of minutes,” he said.
