Celebrate ‘Easter on the Estate’ at the gorgeous Glenlo Abbey

Glenlo Abbey.

Glenlo Abbey.

This spring, the team at Glenlo Abbey has two very exciting offerings for you to enjoy with your nearest and dearest.

From March 25 until April 5, the Pullman Restaurant, which operates out of two repurposed carriages from the Orient Express, is opening its doors for its first afternoon tea service.

Available for a select time only, this exclusive afternoon event will operate from 1pm until 4:15 pm each day, from March 25 until April 5. Offering exquisite handmade pastries, scones and dainty sandwiches, prepared by the hotel's pastry chef, guests can enjoy their delicious treats while relaxing in the Pullman Restaurant's luxurious setting.

The Orient Express

Now permanently located on the grounds of the Glenlo Abbey, as part of the Orient Express, the restaurant's two rail carriages formerly travelled throughout Europe, bringing passengers from Paris, to Istanbul, Turkey, and onto Saint Petersburg, Russia. A prominent service during the bygone era of the railways, notable figures who would travelled in these carriages include, former British Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, and famous comedy acts, Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplain.

One of the carriages, Leona, was used in the original movie screening of the 1974 film, Murder on the Orient Express.

A treat for the senses

The Pullman is also open each night, offering a fine dining dinner experience where guests can savour the flavours of the finest locally sourced and cooked produce.

For a truly unique afternoon tea experience, available only for a limited time, book your seat today by calling 091 519600 or email [email protected]. Afternoon Tea aboard the Pullman is priced at €65 per person, and includes a glass of Champagne.
