Call for schools and educators to share their artistic creations with Galway Atlantaquaria

Galway Atlantaquaria in Salthill is seeking the help of local schools and educators to promote Ocean and Environmental Care through Art and Design.

Over the last two years the aquarium displayed the work of local artists and creators in a large front window of the aquarium office and this year they would like to offer the space to students and educators.

“We were delighted by the response from local artists to our call for displaying their work in 2022 and 2023,” said Petra Kerkhove from the aquarium, and after receiving a number of requests from schools and educators last year they decided to showcase this type of work in 2024.

Appealing to local schools and education providers, the aquarium is looking for art pieces or exhibits that are focused on environment conservation or are inspired by marine and freshwater life. Some of their favourite works they had on display were the ceramic diatom pieces by Rebecca Philbin, the colourful glass paintings by Alicja Natalicz, and the life-like nature paintings of Joan Kilfeather.

The display space is 140cm high & 87cm wide and art pieces will be left on display for one month. Galway Atlantaquaria will also share information about the project through their website and social media platforms.

Interested individuals or schools should complete the Expression of Interest Form by March 28. Successful artists will be notified by April 15.
