Following on from the huge success of Miniature World 2023, the organisers have taken the decision to move this year’s event to Galway Racecourse, where it will take place on Sunday April 7.
Last year the event was oversubscribed, meaning some displays were turned down and others had to be reduced in size, but the move to this new venue will mean lots more displays and more room to view them, so Miniature World now has the potential to grow and grow into the future. Another advantage of moving to Galway Racecourse is access to unlimited free parking, so there will be no more driving around in circles looking for a space.
Miniature World is a must-see exhibition for enthusiasts and collectors of diecast models, who can create amazingly realistic scenes in a miniature size. With themes like farming, motorsport, heavy transport, trains and Lego on display by avid collectors, an afternoon at Miniature World is a great way to explore this fascinating and rewarding hobby and meet people passionate about model building and collecting.
Collections of vintage Corgis and Dinkys, Hot Wheels and many others will be making appearances too, many of which are rarely seen in public. A particular favourite for young visitors are the farm displays, where all aspects of farming will be displayed, while for haulage fans a collection of over a hundred Eddie Stobart model trucks will be on display alongside many other individual exhibits. Adding to the variety on show will be specialist trade stands, where the sellers are always happy to help newcomers to the hobby with advice, models and other helpful products.
One of the many supporters of the Miniature World show are Galway Model Club, an active group who meet weekly in Galway and build both club displays and their own individual displays, sharing each others’ experience along the way.
This very welcoming group will have some of the finest railway scenes on display as well as individual exhibits themed around military, space and transport, and the club are more than welcoming of new members too.
“We are delighted to be hosting Miniature World once again this year,” said event organiser, Thomas Heavey from Oranmore, adding: “With the move to Galway Racecourse and its unlimited space we have the opportunity to make this the largest exhibition of its type in Ireland, and visitors will also be pleased with the additional unlimited FREE parking, as many had issues at last year’s venue in Salthill. To date we have booked in over fifty displays and a large number of traders, already far surpassing last year’s numbers, so this event promises to be much bigger.”
