House broken into in Gort

Gort Gardaí are investigating a burglary incident which occurred on Wednesday, February 7 at approximately 2pm at Derrycallan, Gort. Two males were observed acting suspiciously near a house in the area which was later confirmed to have been broken into. The males are believed to have access to a Silver Ford Mondeo, possibly a 2008 registration.

Athenry house ransacked

Gardaí in Athenry are investigating a burglary that occurred at a residential property on Thursday, February 8 between 8.40pm and 9pm in the Raford, Kiltullagh area where entry was gained to the house by breaking through the back door. The house was ransacked and items were taken from the house.

Number of laptops and jewellery stolen from Tuam home

Gardaí in Tuam are investigating a burglary that occurred at Carrowgorm, Barnaderg on Thursday, February 8 between 4pm and 5pm where a house was broken into and ransacked. Various items of jewellery and a number of laptops were stolen.

A white Volkswagen golf estate was observed by a witness in the area at the time of the break-in.

Jewellery stolen from a home in Headford

Gardaí in Headford are investigating a burglary that occurred at Carrownacroagh, Headford on the Thursday, February 8 between 11.30am and 6 p.m. The back door of the house was forced open and entry was gained. Various items of jewellery were taken from the house.

Back window of a Toyota Yaris smashed in Ballinasloe

Gardaí in Ballinalsoe are investigating a criminal damage incident that occurred at Cleaghmore, Ballinasloe on Tuesday, February 6 between 2pm and 4.15pm where the owner of a black Toyota Yaris had parked their car and upon returning to car the owner noticed the back window had been smashed.

Anyone who may have been in the area around this time and witnessed any suspicious activity are asked to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 090-9631890.

Extensive damage caused to an Opel Astra in Galway city

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a criminal damage incident that occurred between Thursday, February 8 and Saturday, February 10 where the owner of a silver Opel Astra had parked their car at Presentation Road, Galway and upon their return to their car they discovered extensive damage had been caused to their car.

Car extensively damaged in Galway city

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a criminal damage incident that occurred at the Coillte Mhuirline estate, Ballybane on Wednesday, February 7 at 3.35am where the homeowner was awoken by the alarm of their car going off. Extensive damage was caused to the car.

Hit and run incident in Oranmore

Gardaí in Oranmore are investigating a traffic accident that happened at the Carrowmoneash Roundabout, Oranmore, on the morning of Wednesday, January 10, 2024 between 07:35 and 07:45am. The vehicles involved were coming from the Craughwell direction where a dark coloured car (no better description ) collided with a motorcyclist causing them injury.

The driver of the dark coloured car continued on around the Carrowmoneash roundabout and drove off in the direction of Claregalway without stopping.

Counterfeit currency

There has been a number of reported incidents of counterfeit notes being used in recent weeks. There were two reported incidents of counterfeit €50 notes being passed in Loughrea on February 3 and February 6. There has been a notable increase in such incidents throughout Galway in recent times.

Gardaí want to remind business people and the public in general to be vigilant.

Traffic restrictions near Eamonn Deacy Park

Galway Gardaí would like to remind motorists that Galway United play their first home match of the season this Friday, February 16 at Eamonn Deacy Park with kick-off at 7.45p.m. There will be traffic restrictions in place close to the stadium.

Gardaí would like to remind those going to the match that there is no parking along the Dyke Road and for all motorists to park legally, and not obstruct footpaths or the free flow of other motorists.
